Abstract

Learning is one of the most important outcomes of science, as it is a continuous mental process that aims to bring about an organized and permanent change in the behavior of the individual and his cognitive abilities by interacting with various experiences, whether at the cognitive, skill or emotional level, by adopting educational methods and models based on modern scientific foundations. The Persley thinking model emphasizes organizing the learner's thinking through sequential stages that help him understand. The importance of research is evident in the use of modern educational models to teach basic football skills in halls, because this model provides an effective learning environment based on developing thinking, analysis, and linking educational steps to proper motor performance. The research problem lies in the fact that many educational programs adopted in teaching basic football skills to beginners still adopt traditional methods that focus on direct explanation and automatic repetition of performance, without paying attention to the development of thinking accompanying the learning process, as well as the limited ability of the learner to correct his mistakes and link theoretical aspects to practical application. The aim of the research was to identify the impact of educational exercises based on Persley's thinking model in teaching basic football skills to beginners. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the experimental method suited to the nature of the problem, and the sample consisted of beginner football players from school teams in the halls of Diyala governorate/Baldrouz district. The researcher used the statistical software (SPSS). The results showed that the educational exercises applied according to Persley's thinking model contributed positively to teaching basic football skills to beginners.
