Abstract

Football is a team sport that requires students to have motor skills as well as technical and rule-related knowledge to perform effectively in practice. Therefore, employing the Accelerated Thinking Model based on Cooperative Learning has become an important instructional approach in football education. The research problem was the limited use of modern teaching strategies in football classes, along with low levels of motor skill performance and cognitive achievement among third-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences. The study aimed to investigate the effect of the Accelerated Thinking Model based on Cooperative Learning on learning selected football motor skills and cognitive achievement, and to identify differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-tests.

The researcher adopted an experimental design with two equivalent groups using pre-test and post-test measurements. The study sample consisted of 50 students, who were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 25) and a control group (n = 25). The researchers implemented the educational program over eight weeks.

The results demonstrated that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in both motor skill performance and cognitive achievement. The study concluded that the Accelerated Thinking Model based on Cooperative Learning is an effective instructional approach for enhancing students' motor skills and cognitive achievement in football. Accordingly, the researcher recommends adopting modern instructional models and teaching strategies in football education within Colleges of Physical Education and Sport Sciences.
