Contribution ratios of a number of biomechanical variables to the accuracy of the backhand ground stroke performance of squash players
Abstract
The straight shot backhand in squash is one of the basic skills used by the player, and is one of the most important offensive skills used by the player with the aim of moving the opponent away from the middle of the court as much as possible in order to change the opponent’s state from the state of attack to the state of defense. The research aims. Develop an electronic test to measure the accuracy of the backhand groundstrokes of squash players by designing an electronic device and identifying the values of several biomechanical variables in the backhand groundstrokes of advanced squash players, To identify the values of the accuracy of the backhand straight ground stroke for advanced squash players, and to identify the percentages of contribution of biomechanical variables to the accuracy of the backhand straight ground stroke for squash players, The researchers assumed that there are percentages of contribution of biomechanical variables to the performance accuracy of the backhand straight ground stroke skill for squash players, The descriptive approach was used for its suitability to the nature of the research, The research sample included the national team players and advanced clubs in squash, numbering (30) players, The researchers designed an electronic test that measures the accuracy of the backhand straight ground stroke, To achieve the scientific and technical observation, (3) iPhone cameras were used at a speed of (240) images/second, The Kenova program was used for analysis, Statistical methods were used (standard deviation, T-test for related samples, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression coefficient, Shapiro-Wilk test, percentage), The data were processed using the statistical package (SPSS), The most important conclusions reached by the researchers were: - The variables (center of gravity height, torso angle, and elbow angle) had a significant impact, in terms of their contribution ratios, on the accuracy of the backhand straight groundstrokes in the main stance,
