Abstract

The intended purpose of water safety is to protect the health of patrons and workers and ensure the longevity of pool equipment through a plan that all employees are trained on. This includes ensuring the implementation of operating procedures and conditions of use to reduce the risk of drowning and injury in the pool.

The research aims to:

  • Prepare a survey on water safety in Iraqi pools from the perspective of their workers.

  • Identify the level of water safety used in Iraqi pools, across all dimensions.

The descriptive approach was used, and the research sample included (280) workers in Iraqi swimming pools distributed across (30) swimming pools. (130) of them were used to prepare the water safety questionnaire, and (150) were used to implement the questionnaire, representing (11.95%) of the research population of (1255) workers. Data collection relied on the questionnaire prepared by the researchers, and its psychometric properties were verified. The arithmetic mean and percentage were used in the statistical analysis. It was concluded that the swimming pools operating within Iraq enjoy a high awareness and understanding of the importance of providing water safety factors, as they possess a very high level of employee training, building design, cleaning and maintenance plans, operation plans, and emergency plans.
