Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the level of the psychological climate among players of selected teams from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Mosul. The researchers used the descriptive method in its survey style, as it was appropriate for the nature of the study. The research population included players from several team sports within the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, totaling (42) players. The research sample consisted of (30) players, while (8) players were excluded for the pilot study.

The researchers employed the Sports Team Psychological Climate Scale developed by Ismail (2015), which included 49 items—divided into 28 positive and 21 negative statements. Each item was accompanied by a five-point Likert scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Sometimes Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree). After verifying the validity and reliability of the scale, the collected data were statistically analyzed using the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s simple correlation coefficient, t-test, hypothetical mean, and percentage law.

The researchers reached several conclusions, as follows:

- The Psychological Climate Scale was found to be appropriate for assessing players of selected teams from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Mosul.

- The players’ arithmetic mean for the psychological climate scale was higher than the hypothetical mean, indicating that the players enjoy a high level of psychological climate
